Program Overview

Objectives

1.To review basic practice standards in radiation therapy and combined chemo-radiation therapy.

2.To review the most up to date scientific knowledge related to radiobiology, the clinical practice of radiation oncology, medical oncology and radiation physics.

3.To share the new advances in individualized chemotherapy and radiation therapy

4.To share the state-of-the-art radiotherapy technology including IGRT and adaptive RT.

5.To exchange ideas on future clinical trials and international collaboration.

 

Content

The symposium will have both oral and poster sessions. The oral sessions will include but not limit to the following topics.

  • International clinical trial concepts
  • Advanced technology and quality assurance
  • Translational Radiation Physics
  • Translational Radiobiology
  • Head and Neck Cancers
  • Liver Cancer
  • Lung Cancer
  • Esophageal Cancer
  • Gastric Cancer
  • Breast Cancer
  • Prostate Cancer
  • Other Cancers  

Format

For each site, ASTRO/ASCO/CSTRO/CSCO faculty speakers will review disease specific basics and treatment guidelines. AAPM/NACMPA and invited speakers from sponsored organizations will summarize the current technique in daily practice and the potential application of advanced technologies. SANTRO and other faculty speakers will further provide interactive case managements; Scientific presentations will then continue to address the urgent and controversial topics. A summary of results from important clinical trials and ongoing international trials will be given by RTOG faculty speakers. Finally the disease specific sessions will be concluded by proposals of potential trial concepts and international collaborations.
